Ready?….Set…Go!!!

Run-with-perseveranceLife sometimes feels to me like a never ending race.  I feel like i’m constantly chasing after something…or someone.  Sometimes i’m in a race against myself and the weight i’m carrying on my shoulders and in my heart makes it so difficult to move forward, even an inch. When my boys were little and running around the house, I spent so many days just chasing them to slap that diaper on them or get them to sit at the table to eat.  Today they are all so grown up and I’m still chasing them to make good decisions, to get them to sit at the table for dinner or to catch them and tickle them.  Yes…I still tickle my two younger boys and that’s one race I hope never ends.  My oldest won’t let me anymore…shame on him for that. LOL  But in this life I sometimes feel as though i’m in a constant race to get things just right, on time and never missing an opportunity.  Through all this I forget that i’m in a race chasing after the wrong things.  I’m so focused on getting it all down just right that I lose track of the race I should be on.  I shouldn’t worry about people pleasing.  Instead I should focus on pleasing God and run my race towards him with endurance.  My finish line is at the front of those twelve pearly gates that will surround our new heavens and I will stand in God’s glory.  Imagine how beautiful that finish line will be.  God wants us to follow him on the path he has laid out before us and when we reach that fork in life or the WALL, that’s when we should let our endurance and faith direct us towards Him.  Life isn’t always easy.  Don’t allow the negative things in life to keep you focused on what God wants for you.  He will lead you and guide you and He will never abandon you.  And when you feel this is it…I just can’t anymore…I give up…things just won’t ever go my way…Remember…God is the way, He is your strength, He will make that mountain turn into an ant hill.  Trust in God and believe in Him…He has never stopped believing in you.

‘Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross…”  Hebrews 12:1-2
