Amazing Courage

Courage2

Tonight my son made me such a proud mom.  Our youngest son had his solo performance before a judge this evening at school.  I had never seen him so nervous.  I stood there giving him the mom pep talk.  “You are going to do great.  Don’t worry, you got this.” Then I whispered in his ear, “Say a little prayer.  Ask God to help you.”  He looked over with this nervous smile and said, “Mom I did.”  WOW!!! How awesome was that to just hear my 14 year old son tell me how he, before any of us said a word, he alone sought God’s help for tonight.  As the time came closer Jeremy prepared despite how nervous and scared he was.  And he had an AMAZING performance as he played his sax.  Tonight my son taught me the true meaning of COURAGE.  As afraid as he was, he didn’t back down or try and bail out.  No…he prepared himself, he prayed to God and he sat before a room of peers, teachers, parents and a judge and gave it his all.  Sometimes in life we are faced with those terrifying moments.  Those moments where we are just so nervous that we are just looking for any excuse to just bail out.  It may be a speech that you have to give before a large group.  Or maybe it’s a life changing event and you are too afraid to make that commitment.  When those moments arise, we should do like my son, and seek God first above all things.  Ask God to give you courage.  Ask God to guide you.  Don’t allow fear to keep you from creating amazing music in your life.  If a 14 year old put God first tonight and asked for His help in his performance, why are you allowing fear to hold you back?  I am proud that my son had the courage to go before a room filled with people and give an amazing performance.  I am even more proud of my son for having sought God first.  Remember, God is always just one prayer away.

XOXO…Ileen
