One of my favorite hobbies is restoration of old furniture. I take a piece of furniture that has scratches, dents and broken pieces. Furniture that I can tell has great character to it but needs a little work. I start by sanding off the rough edges, filling in the cracks and scratches. I fix all the broken pieces and before I know it, I’m ready to add a fresh coat of paint. At first, this piece of furniture looks like something that no one would ever want. But after a little work on it, it becomes a beautiful restored piece of furniture that looks better than when it was first made. God sees us just the same. He sees our character before He sees our brokenness. God starts his restoration process on us from the inside out. He slowly starts sanding down our rough edges. He fills in all the empty gaps in our lives. He removes all the scars left behind. He takes all our broken pieces and piece by piece He starts putting us back together, even stronger than before. God creates in us a stronger heart filled with love and peace. He adds that final touch to us and before we know it, God has given us new life. Just as I see that old furniture that others may see as worthless trash. I see as a golden treasure that just needs a little tender loving care. God sees us as His own golden treasures while others may have lost all hope in us. In God’s eyes we are the finest of jewels waiting to be polished. Don’t focus your eyes on the person you were yesterday. Focus on the person you are becoming day after day. Allow God to fill in those empty spaces and let Him remove the scars and allow healing into your heart. God will not only restore you, He will create in you a new person.
