My goal last year was to have one book written and finished ready to submit for publishing. I accomplished my goal and had my book completed a few days before the end of the year. As 2016 started I had set a new goal. To get my first book published. Well, we are now in mid March and so far I have not sent out one query letter or book proposal. I’ve researched literary agents and publishers and studied on the requirements for book submissions. Yet as of today, I still have not typed one word and just stared at a blank page for hours today. Writing a query letter and book proposal is so intimidating and knowing my book will be judged based off the first couple of lines scares me even more. I trust in God yet I can’t find my words. I have to sell my book and hook them on the first couple of lines. Heck yeah this is scary. In order for me to accomplish my goal I have to stop being scared and just do it. I have to take action or I’ll never know if I can get published or not. Often we find ourselves excited about the goals we set. We do all this research and preparation but when it comes right down to it we hesitate in making that next move. Your dreams and goals are nothing more than thoughts and ideas until you put action behind it. It’s just like faith. If we don’t put action behind our faith then it’s meaningless. I believe my story of my life’s experiences with God are inspiring and can offer a glimpse of hope to those struggling with something in life. I believe God put that story in my heart to write and share with others. I need to put action behind what I believe in just like I did when I started to write this book. I was intimidated but before I knew it I had close to 40,000 words on paper. I encourage you to evaluate your goals, create a plan of action and go for it. You have nothing to lose…only to gain. This goes for me too. Today is my last day of procrastination. We must strive for success through determination and perseverance. We must trust that God will provide us with the wisdom and knowledge we need and He will guide us if we put Him first in all we do.

“I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 NIV
