Lose Yourself

lose yourself

The other night I was talking to my boys and I said, “Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find yourself.”  Of course their reaction was one of confusion.  They laughed and I went on to explain what I meant since obviously they didn’t quite understand what I was saying.  There are times that we find ourselves constantly just going and we get to a point where we are running on fumes.  We are exhausted, drained and we lose ourselves in everything else.  As a mom and wife working full-time and coming home studying for my Life Coach Certification and raising money for our son’s trip to Europe, I’ve completely lost myself.  I’ve consumed so much of my time just working and studying that I lost my quiet time with God and myself.  I have started feeling overwhelmed and just flat out tired.  I needed to just lose myself.  I needed to lose myself in prayer, in worship, in God.   My focus has been all over the map that I was losing sight of setting God as my priority.  We do that sometimes.  We allow LIFE to control every part of ourselves that we lose a part of us.  We start feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, fatigued, emotional and sometimes grumpy.  By getting ourselves re-centered with God and setting our primary focus on Him, this will allow us to hear God’s direction.   Take those moments of silence to sit with God just listening for Him.  Allow God to fill your mind with comfort and to deliver you from your frustration and worries.  Trust God to lead the way and just lose yourself in Him.  Find that quiet place, a retreat, a park, a garden and just bask in the glory of God.  God will replenish your body, mind and soul as you lose yourself completely in Him.

XOXO…Ileen
