The moment you lay your head down in your pillow, you say your goodnight prayers and settle into sleep…a nagging BUT comes along. Yes…there are those nights where the BUT interrupts what should be a peaceful sweet night of rest. BUT we can’t clear our mind of the clutter. Thoughts of what didn’t get done today or what’s to come tomorrow rob us of those peaceful nights. The worries and stress quietly creep into our peaceful night turning it all upside down and all we want to do is quiet those thoughts. One thing I’ve learned on my beautiful journey with God is that I can’t allow my nights to be overcome by all the worries and stresses…all those what ifs. God wants us to give it all to Him and clear our mind from all that clutter. We need to rest as we lay down for the night and allow our mind to shut down. There comes a time that we must realize that we can’t solve every problem and we don’t always have all the answers. We need God to provide that clarity and to restore that peace in our minds. But we can’t do this if we don’t silence those nagging thoughts and clear our mind in order to hear God’s voice. Trusting in God is what releases us from that hold our circumstances have on us. In Proverbs 3:5-6 it says that we should “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths”. We should put all our faith in God and trust that He will take care of even the most complicated circumstances we find ourselves in. We should listen to God as He shows us what route we should go. I’m so grateful that as I have grown closer to God and grown in my spiritual journey with Him, I have found comfort each night I lay down to rest. I learned that worrying about all the things I couldn’t do or on what’s to come tomorrow wasn’t going to get me a resolution or bring me peace. I give it ALL to God right before I close my eyes.
Tonight as you lay down, I ask you to ask God to take your worries, your anxiety, your stress, your fears and give you the rest He wants you to have. Give God everything tonight and allow Him to come and restore your peace and give you the much needed rest you have been seeking. Know that with God there is nothing impossible. You just need to believe in Him with ALL of your heart and He will take care of the rest.
