It Takes Commitment!

Happy Monday Everyone! One question for you to ponder today.

What have YOU done today to get closer to achieving your goal?

I asked myself this very same question over the weekend. And boy did it rattle my bones. I had been staying “busy” doing everything else and had failed to make time for working on my goals. So I sat down and got to work.

Have you ever found yourself in this very same predicament? You have something important to accomplish but instead you do all the other little EASY things first.  I found myself doing this very thing.  Dancing around the obvious and then occupying my time with smaller projects that essentially weren’t important to have completed just now.

Staying focused isn’t always easy.  We can easily get side tracked and find ourselves off doing something completely different.

Philippians 3:15 says, “So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us.  If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision – you’ll see it yet!”

When our focus begins to waiver off into a different direction, it is up to us to steer our focus back on track.  It takes Commitment!  Dedication!  Perseverance!  Clearly, Paul tells us right here, let’s stay committed in our task.  On our goals.

I sat here in prayer asking God for clarity.  I needed to get my thoughts back on track.  I needed clarity in order to stay focused on my goals.  I couldn’t just sit here expecting God to fulfill my dreams and visions and not do my part as well.

When you find yourself in this same or similar scenario, I encourage you to do the following:

  • Take a moment and sit in silence.  In prayer.  Clear your vision from the blurredness and get back on track.
  • Don’t just give up or stop where you are.  Make your goals, those precious dreams a priority.
  • Take action each day and do just one small thing that you know will get you that much closer.
  • Don’t allow yourself to feel a though you HAVE to get it all done NOW.  Take your time and stay focused.
  • And remember, this is YOUR race and no one else’s.  So stay focused on YOU!

Philippians 3:16 goes on to say, “Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it!”

I LOVE how encouraging Paul’s words are.  He knew the battles ahead and knew the obstacles he would face as he journeyed on through life.  And he knew just how important encouragement was in order to keep pushing forward, especially on those tough days.

Stay encouraged my dear friend and don’t give up.  Stay on track and keep moving forward!

XOXO…Ileen

psst…God Loves You
