As I sit here this morning rocking my granddaughter to sleep, I began thinking of the visions God gave me a few years ago. I remember thinking to myself during my baby Christian stage moments, “That’s just crazy and impossible. There’s just no way someone like me could ever do these kind of things.”
Then of course I began thinking of what others would say or how they’d react. Surely no one would ever see me as qualified or good enough. There will be skeptics and boy would there be critics. But I chose to look beyond those fears and thoughts of discouragement.
Sitting here this morning, I can’t help but smile at God’s goodness. And how He took what I saw as impossible at one time and made it a dream come true. And He took all those lies that were discouraging me and revealed what His truths were saying about me. I received praise and encouragement vs the things I had been fearing.
This reminds me so much of Joseph’s story in Genesis 37. You see Joseph had a dream. A vision from God. And when he shared his dream with his brother’s, their first reaction was disbelief then anger. How dare Joseph think he was better than them. How dare he speak in this fashion. Sharing a dream that shows his brothers on bended knee before him.
Scripture says in verses 5-11,
Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more.He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.”
His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said.
Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”
When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.
You see Joseph was given these dreams. These visions. Which means not everyone was going to get it. They weren’t all going to understand or even accept it.
This very same way, God has given you a dream. A vision. Something He has destined YOU to fulfill. But many times you will face this very same opposition. Those that don’t understand or accept it. Those that are jealous or misunderstand your intentions. And that’s ok.
This is what we must understand. Not everyone will be on board with you and that’s perfectly fine. God gave YOU this vision. Not them. Don’t allow any discouragement to keep you from fulfilling your dreams. Isn’t time you step into your season?
Although Joseph faced many trials and opposition, God’s favor over him brought those visions to fulfillment. God is a God that makes promises He plans on keeping. Promises and visions He will fulfill.
So I encourage you my friend, stay the course. Keep pressing forward chasing down those dreams. Keep speaking fulfillment over those visions. Keep speaking God’s truths over your life. You my friend have been purposed for great and wonderous things.
