Did you know that what you do, how you respond, how you react and even how you start off your day impacts others? It’s almost like a domino effect. Now imagine you wake up in a cranky mood and exude this attitude walking into the office. Not only will others pick up on your frustrations, but this sets off the domino effect to begin. Now picture you wake up beaming with confidence. With a great attitude, jovial and ready to tackle your day. You reach out to the one person you know is ALWAYS cranky and call them simply to wish them a great morning. Do you know what happens? They smile. They laugh. They are stunned and without much thought will react in a positive way. Now granted this isn’t 100% full proof but I have seen this happen time and time again around me. We don’t want others dampening our sunny day and bringing us down so why would we want to impact others with the same?
The other morning I walked into my office with that sunny cheerful attitude and did just that. I called the one person I knew needed a change of pace for their morning. First response was, “Why are you so happy?” I simply laughed and responded telling him that I just thought of him this morning and wanted to wish him a great morning. He went from grumpy to laughing. This is what we should be practicing! Daily. Sharing in God’s love with others. Lifting those up that we know need that cheerful, have a great day, call. Don’t overlook that quiet person in the office or the person that no one ever speaks to. Text someone that you know needs uplifting. Be a friend that takes time to listen to others. Be the person God wants you to be and love on everyone. Through your actions and your attitude, someone elses day can be changed instantly.
Imagine had Jesus walked around with his disciples just constantly complaining with a bad attitude. Do you think they would have kept following him? Do you think anyone would have cared to listen to him speak? I want to believe that Jesus walked around with his guys, all confident, cheerful full of love for everyone beaming with a beautiful smile. Jesus shined with God’s love and his love for people. And that’s what God wants us to do. He wants us to walk around confident, cheerful, full of love for everyone, just like His son. And watch as others will follow in suit. Almost like a pay it forward, but paying God’s love for us forward to others, as we in turn love others. I encourage you that as you start your week, be the start of that domino effect of loving others, being kind and merciful to others, being generous and considerate to others. Be the sunshine in someone’s day.
